Good to Great

Image
Good to Great: The Anatomy of Sustained Excellence Good to Great begins with a brutal premise: good is the enemy of great. Most companies do not fail. They settle.  Comfort, competence, and incremental success create a sedative effect. Collins’ question is therefore not why companies collapse, but why so few ever transcend adequacy. The answer is unsettling: greatness is not achieved through brilliance, charisma, or radical change. It is achieved through unromantic consistency. Level 5 Leadership: Power Without Ego At the center of every good-to-great transformation stands a Level 5 Leader—a figure almost invisible by modern standards. These leaders are not celebrated visionaries. They avoid the spotlight, deflect praise, and absorb blame. Their defining traits are humility and iron will. This leadership model is psychologically radical. Power is exercised without exhibition. Ambition exists, but it is directed toward the institution, not the self. The leader’s ego is s...

The Art of War

Image
Sun Tzu’s The Art of War: Strategy as the Highest Form of Intelligence Sun Tzu’s The Art of War is often misunderstood because it has been quoted too frequently and read too shallowly. It appears on corporate PowerPoint slides, leadership seminars, and motivational posters—usually reduced to clichés about “knowing your enemy” or “choosing battles wisely.” But The Art of War is not a book about aggression. It is a book about restraint, perception, and the invisible mechanics of power. At its core, it is a philosophy that treats war as a tragic failure of politics, to be concluded swiftly, intelligently, and with minimal bloodshed. Unlike later Western military theorists such as Clausewitz, who framed war as the continuation of politics by other means, Sun Tzu frames war as something to be avoided if possible, and ended before it begins if unavoidable. Victory, for Sun Tzu, is not measured by conquest but by control without destruction. This inversion is what makes The Art of...

33 Strategies of War

Image
The 33 Strategies of War: Life as a Battlefield of Perception Robert Greene’s The 33 Strategies of War is not truly about war. It is about conflict as a permanent condition of human life—in politics, love, work, art, and the inner self. Greene strips warfare of its romance and exposes it as an extension of psychology: fear, deception, timing, morale, and narrative. The battlefield may be literal or symbolic, but the principles remain the same. Those who fail to understand this reality are not spared by their innocence; they are simply defeated more easily. Greene’s central premise is unsettling yet persuasive: we are always engaged in struggles, whether we acknowledge them or not. To deny this is not moral superiority—it is strategic blindness. The book does not advocate aggression; it advocates awareness. In a world shaped by power dynamics, misunderstanding conflict is itself a form of surrender. I. Attitude

Image
Attitude Attitude is so important because it defines destiny, it is destiny itself. This is because attitude is a mindset, it is your habits, it is your thought patterns - attitude is a state of being. There is no such thing as the future or even the past. These are just words that attempt to explain what is and what is, is the eternal present. We are always living in the NOW - there is only the eternal now! You cannot be successful in the future, you have to be successful now. You need to adopt the right habits now and emulate your heroes now. The Universe will catch up and manifest your actions and thoughts. You are not successful one day, you are successful every day. You show up every day and engage in routines that enable you to be successful. You have to be consistent, consistency is all that counts. You adapt and recreate yourself everyday, anything that isn't growing is dying. To have the right attitude means you constantly go at it. You improve everyday and dis...

My advice for start-ups

Image
My advice for start-ups. My first point is "no handshake, no business". Draft something on paper. Don't be naive, words don't mean anything, human beings are not coherent creatures, they are full of deception, they will lie if it serves their best interests. Create a third entity, contribute terms and shake on it. Without this, the partnership is doomed from the start. Second, don't work for/with/under someone you do not admire and respect. You won't give your best under those circumstances and you won't grow. Don't settle! Collaborate with the best people you can find. Keep in mind that if your partner lies to you once, it will happen again and again. They don't respect you enough to think you warrant the truth. Be careful, they might make deals that lead to your downfall. Work with someone with integrity. Know who you are working with. Third, prioritize serving people and work to perfect that model. When you have perfected that, conce...

Forex made me wiser

Image
Forex made me wiser. After quitting the call center I had R30000 from my savings, I also had other deals beside my call center job hence the large amount and they paid off at the right time. Hence me quitting without hesitations, it was time. I was reading a lot on Investing and stocks. I remember I was so fascinated with those graphs, those candle sticks, what they meant, how to read them. They provided a promise of wealth and abundance. I wanted to understand them thoroughly, their psychology and nature. I was intrigued by what caused highs and lows. Martin Scorsese had just released “The Wolf of Wall Street” and it was a classic, I loved it! I even bought the book by Jordon Belfort. Those graphs gave me the promise of becoming Jordon Belfort and I wanted it all, the greed, drugs, big money, white Ferrari, hot blonde, the great Estate, bad morality and sex. I read a lot on technical analysis and enrolled in a couple of courses. I tried out Forex, I decided that I’d do thi...

Kalushi, my brother

Image
Kalushi, my brother  I would do anything for Kalushi, he is my blood brother. There's so much to say, the things we saw and experienced together many people would ascribe to as fiction. Frankly I have a tough time believing our experiences. Just maybe it is fiction or just a dream. Still we had a lot of fun, I wouldn't trade the experiences for anything. Obviously I can't cover everything but I'll provide a highlight reel. The story starts with feminine energy, I was in Grade 9 and I saw this girl who blew me away. She was in Grade 8, yellow-bone, pretty and perfect tits. Her name Mapule, she was top quality. But I just admired from a distance. My life was in shambles and I was depressed and sad. My parents got a divorce and they played me like a chess piece. It wasn't fair, I was objectified like a piece of meat. They were like kids, they couldn't handle their problems like adults. How can you use your kid for nefarious ends? I didn't allow it t...

Cultured

Image
Cultured  After high school, I started a clothing company with a girl I used to attend primary school with. Her name - Lethabo. I only knew Lethabo for one year of my school career, but I liked her. We had a natural connection despite the fact that I was the new kid. She was real and authentic. She was smart, lively, creative, passionate and had no problems putting me in my place. I avoided verbal misunderstandings that would lead to conflicts with her, she was quick witted and often left me mute. Still, we were cool most of the time. I hadn't talked with Lethabo since Primary school and now we were done with High School. I reached out and she was enthused. I got her numbers and we talked on Whatsapp about our impending futures. Her energy had piercing spikes. She was creative as ever and our conversation had a lot of substance. She had an entrepreneurial drive that was contagious. She was ambitious, she wanted to do and be someone great. She had a lot of plans. She was...

Mastermind Alliance III: Hustlers manifesto

Image
Mastermind Alliance III: Hustlers manifesto. Hi Leigh, Firstly I would like to thank you for the course and all your efforts in the mentorship circles. It was such a great experience and I loved every second of it. I learned so much, I grew so much and I got to talk business every Tuesdays. My Tuesdays were the best and I treasure the experience. Admittedly, selfishly, I never want to lose that. I think you are so knowledgeable and professional that I want you as a mentor. There’s so much I could learn from you and you understand the content landscape and business as a whole. Napoleon Hill talked about establishing a “Mastermind” with somebody, or an institution if you want to attain riches. A “Mastermind alliance” is an understanding or a partnership that two or more entities share to get a particular goal. My hope is to form one with you. I am a creative whose personality trait is one of openness, that entails that all of the value is within. I am the business and there’s...

Mastermind Alliance II: MVP

Image
Mastermind Alliance II: MVP In 1976, Apple released their first computer. It was mainly hardware, a board. The two Steve’s sold the belongings to make it happen. Woz sold his awesome calculator and Jobs his VW car. They enlisted a buyer who made an order but they didn’t have capital to fulfill the order, regardless they moved things around and managed to create the required units. This was their MVP (Minimum Viable Product) and it was a success, the start of Apple computers. After their MVP, they set their eyes on designing and creating a fully-fledged computer to be named the “Apple 2”. They formed a “Mastermind Alliance” with Mike Murkela who funded them for a ownership stake in the start-up. A mastermind alliance is an understanding or a partnership that two or more entities share to get to a particular goal. It was a perfect union. Murkula got an ownership stake for his investment and a business and the two Steve’s got capital to build the Apple 2 and business experienc...

Mastermind Alliance

Image
Mastermind Alliance Late 1880’s Coca-Cola wanted to turn 2 million into 2 trillion by 2034. Their plan to get there was Classical conditioning and Operant conditioning. Classical conditioning is how you learn naturally and progressively. You know fire is hot because it burned you. Operant conditioning is taught and programmed like wearing your mask and using hand sanitizer. To make their conditioning effective they used excessive advertising. Their advertising was mainly psychological – there’s something about seeing a beautiful woman that you absolutely have no chance with drink Coca-Cola, it makes you do things, it appeals subconscious urges and desires. Coca-Cola utilized Billboards, other print, radio and TV for their campaigns, it was widespread. Distribution was also key, it needed to be available everywhere, that way it would be credible. They trademarked their brand and perfected their secret recipe. They could have achieved their 2 trillion goals years ago but they...

Secrets to success

Image
Secrets to success Warren Buffet was asked the secrets to success in an interview and his answer was that you needed to be able to express and articulate yourself verbally and on paper (written). He cited a certificate he got from completing a course on public speaking from Dale Carnegie as his best and this is a man who has masters and degrees in the field of business from the best Universities in the world. The Dale Carnegie certificate is even on display at his office, the degrees aren't. Buffet continued that anyone who doesn't have this skill is behind 50-70 years. Learning how to express yourself improves your value by 50-60%. I agree with him, I think it's the number 1 secret/skill for success, one that has worked for me immensely in my engagements with the world. The second secret to success is reading a lot of books. Reading expands your horizons and exposes you to world's you didn't know existed. Reading gives you different perspectives. Readin...

Conform or not to conform

Image
Conform or not to conform Conforming has its advantages for example if you are starting an online community, you have to understand the ecosystem and adapt to make it your own. You have to understand what works and what doesn't to create a framework and structure for your newly formed community. When you have a structure and framework you can slowly add what's different about you. Being different from the get go is not wise because you can get shunned and ignored, that's not good for creating a self-sustaining brand. Different doesn't necessarily mean good. You have to conform to a certain point because to conform entails to be emphatic and empathy makes you relateble and likeable. To conform is to understand and to be compassionate because you can mirror people's mannerisms, tastes and conducts. A perfect example of conforming to be different is with the Apple 2. When it was released it was just like a lot of computers in a lot of ways. It could run on ...

UFAL

Image
UFAL  A friend called me from Dubai, it was treating him well but it was time to relocate to his homestead, you know the saying "there's no place like home". He had plans, he was thinking of a farming enterprise, I am talking about poultry, eggs and fresh produce like spinach and cabbage. He was also going to revolutionize the industry. For every item bought, there would be free delivery. Doesn't sound like much now but he'd be the exception in his homeland of Limpopo. Limpopo is a rural area and the tempo of life is slow, to get your fresh vegetables you had to go to the local merchant, an inconvenience because in some areas shops are miles ahead. There's also the case of the demographic in Limpopo, elderly people like grandparents lived there. Having farm fresh produce delivered at their doorsteps would be highly advantageous for them and they would appreciate the service. To make life even better, he was thinking of having an app built to satisf...
